Illusions

Remoulade Lewis has a job she loves and is well paid to make others beautiful. After a hectic few months, what she needs more than glamour and flash is a “pause my life” getaway.

Drew Cointreau offers her a “first name no regrets”weekend. Seventy-two hours in the thunderstorms of New Orleans pampered by a complete stranger. Remoulade is blindsided by a world she does not recognize. Blinking only make things worse.

Tangled in a web of betrayals, both become confused and disoriented. Illusions is sensory exhilaration where what you receive is not always what you agreed to. Sometimes, when the rain stops, what awaits in the fog is more dangerous than a 3-night stand with a stranger!

Excerpt

Remy turned and saw a pair of hazel eyes sparkling under the neon signs. He did not motion towards her. She nodded in appreciation.

She was single and single. No relationship, no kids, no side- piece, no pets, nothing to keep her from enjoying a frivolous weekend. The one thing she had packed in her travel bag was a box of condoms. It felt strange but, even while one enjoys the freedom of flying a kite, one must still exercise a bit of caution.

Southerners are a different breed. Hospitality runs as deep as the racial divides. When you find your tribe, you know it. Remy was born and reared in a military family. Traveling around the world was normal as an Air Force brat.

A new song caught her attention after she finished her beer. Time to go! When she twirled on the floor, there he stood. Drew would be damned if this beauty was going to grind those hips on anybody in this place except him. She had a body that begged to be pulled close and explored. He watched her dance alone in previous two songs. It aroused him in ways that had not visited his spirit in a long time.

Unashamedly, she backed up against him and the grinding dance blocked out everyone except them.

The bartender’s orders were piling up because she could not stop watching them. Neither could anyone else!

“She is out of her element. Look at her!”

“We are! Put your bitter bitch back on the shelf! That woman is no threat to you. You are the best bartender in town. She just happens to be the hottest, sexiest, sultriest woman in the bar tonight.

I don’t want to give too many details about the content, because I’ll ultimately spill the beans. However, I will warn you that you may experience/display the following emotions as you read it: Laughter, shock, sadness, and anger. I was also able to visualize many of the scenes as I was reading. The cover caught my eye and I was intrigued. I’m so glad I purchased it because I wasn’t ready!

Excerpt

Madison moved through the mall in search of the stripe for Penelope's body and the black tights to complete the ensemble. Somehow, she couldn't shake this strange sensation of being followed. She kept looking behind her to see if she recognized any of the window shoppers. It was a moot point inside a mall. She must be more exhausted than she thought. A smile crossed her lips as she sauntered down the aisles.

He was still agitated today. How dare she allow him to spend the night in her bed, touching her! When the lights went out in her bedroom, the stranger squeezed his beer bottle so hard it cracked in his hand. Blood splattered all over the thigh of his jeans. He collected the bottle pieces as the beer oozed down his leg. He stood outside the entire time and watched them!

Conscious Indiscretions

Green. The color of grass, money, jealousy, fatigues, and his eyes. Kargo Adams had a chance encounter with Major General Alexander Samuels. He used all his tactics as a former commander to entice her into his bed. The battle was something she could never have predicted!

Kargo awoke positioned as the queen on a real-life chess board. She was not prepared for the kaleidoscope of manipulations making it difficult to distinguish the knights, rooks, bishops, pawns, and even the queen. The game had one rule: Win!

His assignment as a bystander was simple: Secure the premises and protect the queen. Keep watch. But what happens when watching is not enough?

How much faith do you have in your security system? Could it withstand this Molotov cocktail? Could it withstand deception shaken and stirred with hot sex, late nights, and scandalous meetings? No survivors, including the queen, become a real possibility when players are dragged onto a board specifically designed to breed conscious indiscretions.

What a tangled web we weave... Kargo is a perfect example of a strong Black woman with a sense of humor and the smarts to take care of the people she loves.

Excerpt

“Mr. Samuels, can I get a shot of you to accompany today’s news footage? You are doing such a service for the veterans in this state. Would you stand right here for me?” Before the photographer could snap the shot, Sascha ran into the photo.

“As hostess of this soiree, I should be featured with the city’s most eligible bachelor.”  Not wanting to cause a scene, Alexander switched the pose to accommodate her. The photographer did a countdown. As soon as he said “one,” Sascha planted a huge kiss on Alexander’s lips.

“What the hell was that Sascha?”

“Oh Alexander, a little additional publicity for me and you will be all the rage!”

“Sascha your body has been publicity in too many rages! Don’t ever do that crap again. This is an important facility for a lot of well-deserving soldiers not an opportunity for a discarded tramp seeking relevance!”
